We believe everyone is an athlete!
Athletic therapists treat all kinds of injuries from ankle sprains to chronic low back pain.
Whatever your goals are your athletic therapist will work with you to get you moving
-
Athletic therapists specialize in helping people recover from musculoskeletal injuries (muscles joint and bones) and are experts in emergency care situations such as when an athlete gets injuries on the ice, field or court.
Physiotherapists also treat musculoskeletal injuries but also have training in helping people recover from cardiovascular and neurological conditions.
-
You do not need a referral to see one of our therapists.
Some private insurance companies do require a doctor referral for athletic therapy.
We recommend reaching out to your provider to determine if you have coverage and what their policies are.
-
Please wear loose and comfortable clothing. Something you’d wear to the gym.
Ideally the therapist would need to see and have access to the area of concern.
-
Your initial assessment is 60 minutes. This gives us enough time to get to the root of your problem and leaves us time at the end for some hands on care.
Follow up appointments depend on your custom plan and can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
-
Following your initial assessment your therapist will present you with a plan of care which will include the number of sessions required and the duration of each session.
For mild to moderate injuries or movement dysfunctions most people see improvements in about 4-6 sessions.
Chronic conditions may need about 10-12 sessions to see improvements.
Finally, for more severe conditions, such as, following surgeries or more chronic conditions may need around 20 sessions.
Of course, every case is different and the above numbers are rough estimates based on the cases we’ve seen at our clinic.
-
We will welcome you, offer you a coffee or water and then you’ll meet your therapist who will guide you through a detailed assessment to determine the exact cause of your issue.
From there, your therapist will help put together a custom plan for you. And finally, you’ll get some hands on treatment to start helping you reach your goals!
-
Many insurance plans now offer athletic therapy. Please ensure you check your benefits plan to see if you’re covered.
